Join us for a midweek jaunt that combines great coffee, hearty pub fare, and one of the Perth Hills’ most scenic descents. On Tuesday, 17th June, we’re inviting members to   rev up their cats and head east for a relaxed morning tea at Café Mojo in Mundaring, followed by lunch at the historic Kalamunda Hotel and a winding farewell via the famous Zig Zag Scenic Drive.

The Plan (Flexible, Just Like Our Suspensions)

We’ll each make our way independently to Café Mojo, located at 16 Craig Street, Mundaring. The easiest approach is via Great Eastern Highway, turning right into Nichol Street as you pass through Mundaring’s town centre, then the first exit at the roundabout onto Craig Street. Parking will be reserved out front, with overflow available just down the laneway.

Meet there from 10:00am, where our gracious hostess Jonene and her team will be ready with excellent coffee, morning tea, and a relaxed country vibe. There’s indoor and outdoor seating—and even a sandpit and toys for any grandkids (or playful adults) in tow.

Around 11:00 to 11:30am, we’ll saddle up and cruise back down Great Eastern Highway to Greenmount Hill, where we’ll veer left onto Scott Street. From there, enjoy a gentle backroads drive through Helena Valley, Ridgehill Road, Gooseberry Hill and finally Railway Road into Kalamunda. We’ll provide a turn-by-turn route on the day, but if you prefer to blaze your own trail, Google Maps is your co-pilot.

Lunch is booked for 12:30pm at the Kalamunda Hotel (under “Michele, Jag Club”). You can choose from the main, seniors, or daily menu. There’s ample parking either behind the pub (Coles carpark) or across the road near the Zig Zag Cultural Centre.

After lunch—and perhaps a browse through the Kalamunda Historical Village—we’ll head to the Zig Zag Scenic Drive, departing around 2:00 to 2:30pm. The route takes us gently (but twistily) back to the plains, offering stunning views and a fun descent. Please take it easy—graceful cats, not racing leopards.

Once we hit the bottom, you’re free to make your own way home, hopefully with a full belly and a satisfied smile. Spots are limited to 25, so please register early to secure your place. Rain or shine, the drive goes on—though we’re certainly hoping for a bit more shine.
